Happy New Year!
Christmas has come and gone, but it was only weeks ago. Wooo! What a relief.
Old Medina Winery has started the New Year with a lot of things to share and let you know.
* A new batch of Niagara is available which is tremendous. It is has a smoothier finish then the last batch that we sold for all of last year. I think you will enjoy this new batch.
* The porch is enclosed so it is warmer and intimate place to hang out with your friends and to come listen to Open Mic Night with our Jazz Band.
* New wine club starting on Jan 26th. Come journey across the world sampling wines.
* Jackson State Wine Course taught at Old Medina Winery
We hope you can join us this year at Old Medina Winery! Come celebrate the New Year with us.

On January 26th at 4 PM, we will be starting a new book for the Wine Club. We will taste wine from different countries throughout the world. We will be using Oz Clarke's New Essential Wine Book and they are on sale at the winery.
For the month of Jan, we are going to taste wine from France. France is such a huge chapter, we will split it in two. January will be Bordeaux and Burgundy and February will be Champagne, Rhone, Loire, Alsace, Jura and Savoie, Provence and Corsica, Languecdoc-Roussillon, and Southwest France. I am so excited about tasting all of these wines from France especially because of the confusion with French Wine Labels. the wines are not labeled by grape variety but by region of the country. So Burgundy has a lot of a Chardonnay and Pinot Noir grapes but on a French label at the liquor store would be the name of the region such as Chablis, and Macon while American labels would be Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. How confusing, but fun!
The Wine Club costs $50 per person or $75.00 per couple for one year. The wine tastings are dutch usually costing approx $7.00 with the members bringing the food. We meet monthly, so come join us and join the fun. To sign up for the Wine Club go to our web site and sign up for our newsletter marking your interest in the Wine Club, email me, fill out newsletter registration form, or come by our winery and pick up the necessary information. |

Old Medina Winery's Open Mic Night will be called Music with the Natives. It has been a great success with local entertainers performing every Friday night from 7 PM to 11 PM. Musicians sign up to perform for 15 minutes intervals and there are plenty of musicians participating. Any form of art can be performed including poetry reading, music performance, or comic expression. Just keep it clean because kids are around.
A local jazz band, Souled Out will play 30 minutes every hour starting at 8 PM. They are college students and it has been a joy listening to them. They are on Christmas break, but they should be back in January.
Join us on Friday nights from 7 PM to 10 PM. Everyone is welcome to come and to listen to our local talent. |
